And love's exile took a despairing toll.
Life's barren land laid in the misty vague,
Devoured the hearts below from soul to soul.
The craving fire burns no more night and day,
Fair spirits left in coldness to deplete.
Dear ones in silence waned and parted way,
How Cupid's prank do mere mortals defeat!
Where then shall you in consolation seek,
Or sadly concede to the tempting fate?
Till tears dry and smiles return to your cheek, Do Love! Love does repay, however late. Grieve not, for you will toil and will endure,
Though tomorrow's rewards remain unsure.

As part of the physics journal team, I will organise and sometimes acquire topical and special issues, handle and maintain review journals, and invite review articles for their physics portfolios.

So lonely in the early hours of dawn!
Engulfed in the sun's blinding rays I am,
Like an ocean with no shores to lap on,
An empty box that only you can cram.
Shall I write a poem to let you know,
That a thousand days is but all too short?
The fondness of soul does day by day grow,
A secret to tell or hide in my court?
Cherish you then the hope I must forget,
For never, ever your heart with me spent.
Friendly? Motherly? My eyes turning wet,
Love is not love, yet I shall be content.
I do not know what heaven has in store,
But it is you I will always adore.

October 15 DualI watched La Double vie de Véronique and Trois couleurs: Rouge again this afternoon with the wonderful commentaries by Annette Insdorf, and all of a sudden I realised why I love them so much. There is something unique about the ethereal French-Swiss actress Irène Jacob. What she played in the films is like a mirror of her. They not only look alike, but also share strikingly similar personalities - the humility, honesty, openness, and being innocent and sophisticated at the same time. Above all is the unassumingness and serenity, which in my eyes are the quintessential qualities of hers. It's very much like seeing the best of her projected on the silver screen, no wonder I found an instant adoration of the roles Jacob played. September 05 准备累死一直在盘算到了牛津怎么选课，选来选去发现这个专业真是史无前例地恐怖啊！每个学生必须要选12学分才能毕业： 2 core courses (1 unit each): 24 lectures + 8 example classes + 3 hour exam; 3 special topics (1 unit each): 12-16 lectures + mini-project + report; 2 case studies (0.5 unit each): Four week group project work + oral presentation + report; 1 dissertation (6 units): 65 pages!!! + oral presentation + viva。 另外还必须上下面三门课： Mathematical modelling classes Practical numerical analysis classes Addtional skills classes 也就是说一年内要学10门课，参加2次笔试4次口试，做5个mini-project，交5篇报告，还要再写长达65页的论文一篇，太疯狂了吧！相比之下LSE和剑桥的Philosophy of Science只要选三门课写一篇论文就可以搞定，即使是剑桥最生猛的Part III也只需要6门笔试（无论文报告或口试）或者5门笔试加一篇30页的论文。看来此去牛津是要做好活活累死的准备了。 February 05 Poems and Lyrics

There was the light of reason,
